Yesterday was my last day! After 8 1/2 years with the same organisation, I am now footloose and fancy free, de-shackled from the daily grind and free to do as I please – no longer under any obligation to anyone who compensates me for my time, my talents and my technical skills.
It may take a little time for the reality to sink in, but not too long. With my working life now placed into a holding pattern, I have a busy time ahead focusing on ‘Getting Ready’, but not just yet because I have two mini holidays planned during August and neither of them are being cancelled or postponed.
- On Tuesday August 5, I fly to Melbourne for a week to see our two daughters who live there; then
- On Sunday, August 17, I fly to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to attend the Toastmaster International 83rd Annual International Convention.
Actually getting ready to head off on our trip around Australia will take a back seat momentarily while I simply enjoy my newly found freedom during August.
Just in case you are wondering, there is no typo in the above. Both trips are solo. Yes, Dean is staying home and working (one of us has to) while I go gallivanting around the place and I must say I just love the word gallivanting. It’s like your tongue has to gallivant to simply pronounce it and I had a little chuckle to myself at the usage example on the Oxford Dictionaries website:
‘she quite her job to go gallivanting around the globe’
There is no more I can add to that.
