Hastings Point

Thoughts on Location No 2

Hastings Point, Tweed Shire, New South Wales

The weather wasn’t the best while we were staying at Hastings Point, but all the same, our four days there were lovely.  Dean had several hours surfing, we went bike riding, had a day trip down to Byron Bay and a little side adventure to Mooball.

I hope you enjoy my first thought gallery.

The waves were good for Dean even though the weather was not the best.

Dolphins in the surf at Hastings Point
On Tuesday Dean was surrounded by dolphins in the water. They were frolicking in and around where he was sitting on his board, going under him and then popping up beside him. He said the experience was so cool.

The view looking north from the Cabarita Beach Headland.  It rained for three of the four days we stayed at Hastings Point.

Goanna at Hastings Point
This guy scurried across the cycleway when Dean and I were out riding and scared me into thinking I was going to fall off my bike again.
Lizard3
There were three of these guys that visited our van site every day, they were quite friendly and did their best to keep the bugs away.
Cape Byron
Cape Byron – Australia’s most easterly point.  The rain prevented us for visiting the lighthouse and taking the walk track down to the water’s edge.
MooMoo
The Famous Moo Moo Cafe at Mooball. I thought I would go to the cafe one last time and take a photo of where our youngest daughter wrote “Moo was here!” on the wall.  Next to the cafe there was a lovely little gift shop that specialised in all things bovine and it was where I bought my treasured little china cow.
Sadly the cafe is now a Roadhouse and
Sadly the cafe is now a Roadhouse and alas the walls had been repainted (probably more than once or twice anyway).  The gift shop is now a motorbike museum and I decided I didn’t want to know who rides this bike.

  1. Hi Clare – Miss you both but I can certainly see you are enjoying the life of beaches and the time free life of Larry. Here at the office it is same – same – take care
