Once again I hear the pitter-patter of little feet
Dizzying laughter and giggles of those so young
Imbue the room with memories old yet sweet
Of days gone by when nursery rhymes were sung
I remember to smile and smile to remember
When it was you who were that small
Your life a spark a struggling ember
And yet you grew so strong so tall
So now I watch as your young grow
My heart so glad to realise
That life and love both ebb and flow
And the universe must equalise
To you the future I now trust
It is I who must return to dust
Deeply moving and beautiful 🙂
