Into The Woods

With our first four weeks in Tasmania coming to an end today, we’ve now purchased our National Parks Pass to use for the rest of our time here.  We have another eight weeks before we get back on to the Spirit of Tasmania and head back to the mainland.

Tomorrow, weather permitting, we’re heading off for our first bushwalk through one of the National Parks near St Helens, and there are a few to choose from.

I’m really excited about it and can’t wait to explore the hidden treasures waiting to be found in the hills I’ve been looking at behind us. Stay tuned for an update on where we go and what we find.

  1. Hi Clare – so which NP did you go to? We spent a week up that way at the end August last year – I was actually sunbaking on the deck on one day. The weather certainly is fickle. We also did some walking out at the Blue Teirs – interesting area.

    1. Hi Margaret,

Post and photos to follow, but we did get to Halls Falls and St. Columba Falls. We’re planning on heading to Blue Tier either tomorrow or Thursday. Weather permitting of cause.

    1. Your were lucky.

We went bushwalking at Springbrook National Park once (following some rain) and I remember asking Dean, “Is there something behind my ear?” He didn’t see it, but about 30 minutes later, I felt it. I’m not sure what was worse, knowing it was there, or trying to get it off. We didn’t have any salt with us.

  2. Are you getting used to the weather? Or has it been quite changeable?
Don’t forget to take some salt or a lighter on your walk(s) in case there are leeches. I’ve heard another deterrent is to wear stockings, but that’s not an option I’m likely to try any time soon! : )

    1. Hi Dayna,

It was so cold on Friday and Friday night that yesterday I had to buy a zip up jumper 🙂 Can you believe I didn’t have one that closes in the front? I can’t believe what I packed, and what I didn’t pack.

Thanx for the heads up on the leeches, they are horrible little things.

I'd love to hear your thoughts . . .
