An Unexpected Visitor

‘Yuck’ is the only word I can use to describe our late night visitor last night.

ScorpionI was none too impressed to see this forest scorpion on the kitchen floor as I was going to bed and squealed like a girl at Dean’s efforts to scoop it up and escort it outside.

All jokes aside, I then spent half the night worrying about whether or not it would find its way back in, and, scariest thought of all, what if I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and it was poised, waiting for me?

What if I stepped on it, or worst still, what if I merely stepped near it and frightened it enough for it to lash out at me?

Poor little thing, I’ve no doubt it was more frightened of me than I was of it.

All the same though, this morning I stayed in bed until it was light enough for me to clearly see where I was placing my feet.

    1. Thank you Helen,

Now I am truly terrified. Dayna tells me to look in my shoes, you tell me there’s more than one.

      I don’t think I’ll look up again – ever.

      1. Oh, no…I was just trying to have some fun with you but I don’t want to intensify your fear. Since I do not have the same fear I guess I didn’t think about how it could affect you.

  1. I didn’t realise there were scorpions in Tassie! Yikes!
I’ll make a mental note to check my shoes before putting them on next time. Don’t want any nasty surprises.
    Thanks Clare!

      1. I can only imagine! We get spiders here, and I would say that they’re small in comparison to other countries and they Freak Me Out! I bush in all the corners and I get the duster out and pick up all the cobwebs lol
