This weeks Photo of the Week was taken Wednesday
(August 26, 2015)
St Gorges Basin was expected to peak at 1.83 metres at high tide on Wednesday.
I’m not sure how high the water got following last weeks deluge, or if the flooding worsened, but I do know the rainfall on Wednesday was considerably less than what it had been across Monday and Tuesday. (See my thought – Today Could be a Fine Day – for more information.)
I took this photo of the Basin View boat ramp an hour before high tide, having ‘ducked out’ to the corner shop. Thank goodness I didn’t have to drive far and didn’t have to drive through any flood waters either, otherwise we’d have gone without bread and milk until the waters receded.
Thursday brightened up a little, and Friday was almost pleasant. Saturday was lovely – not a cloud to be seen anywhere, but Sunday had ominous moments of cloudy skies and a few scattered showers. Here’s hoping the rain stays away as predicted this week and everyone here gets the opportunity to dry out.
