This weeks Photo of the Week was taken Monday
(November 9, 2015)
Dean and I are currently nestled beneath some peppermint trees on the south coast of Western Australia and a properly functioning internet connection is a rare and precious thing.
As I’m unable to upload the photo I selected for the Photo of the Week this week, I have to highlight one I’ve already loaded into the system.
The pink dirt along the path from Le Grand Beach to Hellfire Bay in Cape Le Grand National Park.

I know dirt comes in all sorts of colours, and Dean and I have seen our fair share of variety lately, but what makes it pink?ย Is it the same algae responsible for pink salt lakes?ย Did the (light) overnight rain leech these natural colours from the granite and the sand?
I don’t know the answers to any of my questions, but that didn’t stop me being mesmerised by it.
Never thought about algae… minerals in the rocks perhaps? I’ve no idea what type, but it’s a lovely compliment to the flowers ๐

I know Nancy,
Who would have thought ‘pretty’ would describe dirt?
