A Festival of Orchids

As I said yesterday, Dean and I attended the Diamond Festival of Orchids hosted by the Nambour Orchid Society.  For a very small entry fee, we entered the hall at the Kawana Community Centre prepared to adore the incredible flowers on display.

Starting with the Grand Champion, what an absolute privilege it was to waste time drinking in the beauty of these incredible blooms.

There were lots of familiar looking orchids.

And lots of different looking ones.

And then there were those referred to as slipper orchids, just like the Grand Champion.

All of them were beautiful and unique in their own way and it was so easy to see what makes these blooms so special and those who love and grow them so fanatical.

Most of the above images were taken with my (aging) iPhone, and I am very surprised and pleased at the quality of them.  Not to self – Don’t go anywhere without your camera!
