The Tree All Trimmed

Today was an exciting day for me.  As for Dean, if he had his way, we’d not have a tree at all.  He’s such a Grinch sometimes – or perhaps he’s a Scrooge – but I’ll talk more about that another day.

For now, though, I’m like a kid in a candy store with a $50 note and no adult supervision.  I’m so excited is could almost – oops, too late – I just squealed.

Yes, that’s how excited I am and how much I love this time of year.  But one step at a time.  Today was all about the tree and finishing what I started yesterday.

It didn’t take as long as I thought it would – just a couple of hours – from finding something to use as a base, wrapping the base in appropriate paper (Christmas variety of course), placing the lights first, then a small amount of tinsel, all the baubles I have in my Christmas chest, and finally the ‘Star’ on top.

I thought a photo as it was getting darker would be good – not really the case though.

Alas, I broke our little star as I went to put it on the tree then had to spend some time trying to repair it.  Though rather fiddly, a piece of twist tie did the trick, and up on top of the tree it went, the lights were then turned on and viola, our tree is complete for 2018.

I cannot remember how many years we’ve had that little star, but it’s been quite a few and breaking it was a little sad.

All in all, I think it looks as good this year as it has every year.

Dressing our little tree – all four feet of it – is always a wonderful way of invoking the Festive Spirit.

(There are 210 baubles on that tree.)

    1. Thank you Kim. That’s lovely. This year we will have Kate stay with us for a couple of weeks but sadly the other two girls will remain in Melbourne. All the best for great season yourself.

    1. I had five baubles that didn’t make it this year – they simply gave up. Today, just for you Becky, I’ll share a photo of my little travelling tree and think of you without one 😦
