My little Hibiscus shrub is still only small,
barely 30 cm tall (approx. 12 inches),
but it has a huge heart and enormous flowers.

This is my next entry in my Christmas Time Square as part of Becky’s ‘Time’ Square in December photo challenge.
This gorgeous, evergreen variety is Hibiscus Rio Clara ‘Shabby Chic’. It has deep green leaves and produces rather large flowers with petals that are variegated from pink to a creamy-white, radiating from a dark centre. I love it and can’t wait for it to grow up.
Well done, little hibiscus! It’s keen to make its mark on the world.

Beautiful . . . . . .we see these quite often in Portugal in parks and gardens. I would love to have one, but not really got the right weather here in England for it to flower at Christmas!

I understand your weather not being ‘right’. Over here we’ve already had terribly hot days and Hibiscus’ just loves the heat. They even tolerate dry conditions so I planted it in a part of my garden that I don’t water too frequently.

Good to know . . . .the way the climate is changing we may need to re-think the plants we have in the garden.

Yes, we may have to, but you’ll be pleased to know I was reading that this hibiscus will grow inside! There’s a thought 🙂

Very impressive. I think I might have its cousin, mine is bright yellow with the same red centre and is also still only a small bush.
