This is my next entry for the Flower of the Day (FOTD) photo challenge hosted by Cee’s Photography.

It hasn’t grown much since I planted it, and you can see where the grasshoppers have been feasting, but the flowers (when they bloom) are spectacular and put a smile on my face when I pull the car into our driveway.

Hibiscus, one of my favourites. When we lived in Hawaii our back garden was fenced in with an eight foot tall hibiscus hedge. The perfume on a summer night was glorious and the red blooms were abundant all year long.

How lovely? At one home we owned, we had Mock Orange (Murraya paniculata) growing in a hedge along our back fence. It was just as tall I guess, and their perfume was delightful when they were in flower.
