I was out of bed today in time to catch the Moon (on high) this morning.

It was on this day (July 16) in 1969, following six months of practising every action of their mission, over and over (not to mention all the other intensive training and instructions), Neil Armstrong, Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin and Michael Collins were finally ready to climb aboard the Saturn V rocket at the John F. Kennedy Space Centre.
Once the rocket had launched Appolo 11, the crew then waited patiently – or perhaps not – through the next few days it took their craft to reach the Moon.
As they drew closer, Neil Armstrong described the view to the NASA Mission Control Center:
The view of the Moon that we’ve been having recently is really spectacular . . . It’s a view worth the price of the trip.
