The Pale Blue Dot Updated

Thirty years ago today, NASA’s Voyager 1 spacecraft captured an image that would go on to become one of the most iconic photographs of the space age.

Happy Anniversary to the “Pale Blue Dot”.

Taking these images was not part of the original plan, but the late Carl Sagan, a member of the Voyager imaging team at the time, had the idea of pointing the spacecraft back toward its home for a last look.

For this, the 30^thanniversary of one of this most iconic image, NASA has released a new version using modern image-processing software and techniques to revisit Voyager’s view while attempting to respect the original data and intent of those who planned the images.

I think it looks as amazing as the original.

This morning I have watched the following at least six times 🙂 and must say, no matter how many times I do watch it, it gives me goosebumps and bring tears to my eyes. Take a few minutes to enjoy.
