Homemade Bread

With No Need to Knead

And so yummy, fresh out of the oven with butter and vegemite on top.

OMG, this was so good.

This is not my recipe.  It belongs to Nagi and you can find her recipe here.

It was the easiest recipe to follow and produced the most amazing loaf of artisan bread to ever grace my kitchen bench.

Just four ingredients and a dutch oven.

It took a bit to find the ingredients at the supermarket, but I was patient and knew I would eventually be able to buy them.  I already had a dutch oven, so I was all set.  All I had to do was dive in.

I read Nagi’s recipe several times, watched her video (repeatedly) and took a deep breath thinking the worst that could happen would be a blob that ‘soft of’ resembled bread.

I shouldn’t have worried, the recipe was straightforward and produced an amazing end result.

I decided to dust with a few sesame seeds before it went into the oven and can hardly believe I baked this 🙂

My loaf was a little dark on top (I won’t say burnt), but then my oven has this magic-fandango-3D-heating-system and next time I’ll reduce the heat or the cooking time just slightly.

It was hard to photograph with the steam coming off it.

Dean and I could hardly wait for it to cool so we could cut into it and enjoy a chunk with butter and vegemite.

Actually, I cut two slices and we enjoyed ½ of each slice.

Still can believe I baked this.

We could have devoured the whole loaf quite easily, but I put it aside to cool completely, placed it into an airtight container, and we’ll enjoy some this morning for our breakfast.

Have you been thinking about making your own bread at home?  Why not try Nagi’s recipe – I assure you it is the easiest method.  Measure, mix, stand, form and bake.  No kneading necessary and surely bread making cannot get easier than that.  Thanx Nagi.

The no need to knead was a big attraction for me because, two years after breaking my arm at the wrist, I still struggle with a few tasks in the kitchen.  Kneading is certainly out of the question.

This is my first entry in Becky’s Square in April photo challenge Tops.

I know I’m a little late to the April Squares Party – Sorry Becky 😦 Life has been strange as I’m sure it has been for countless others around the world, but I’ll try to join in a little more frequently between now and the end of the month.
