A Patch of Blue

Looking up, this is a very welcomed sight after all the rain we’ve been having.

Although, in this photo, things still look gloomy.

Luckily, we have not had copious amounts of rain like the northern parts of our state, but it has been steady and constant with this weekend was spent riding it out watching cricket on TV. Truth be told, there was a moment or two yesterday when the Sun came out, but I was too enthralled in the cricket coverage to get off the couch and step outside. Isn’t that sad? But it didn’t last long and once again, it was raining.

But that patch of blue this morning was responsible for something else catching my eye when a little ray of sunshine hit the flowers on a crimson crepe myrtle that my friend Denise gave me recently.

The sunshine didn’t last long and the flowers proved difficult to photograph in the weak light.

I guess I’ll have to be more attentive and step outside next time the Sun is shining and see if I can get some better photos of these intriguing flowers.

This is my first entry in Becky’s January Squares Photo Challenge – Up.

I’m a little late to Becky’s Up Squares, but I know she’ll say “Better late than never”.

    1. Thank you, Nancy. At least at the moment, the ground (aka, grass) and the plants are getting a good watering. When the worms start coming out of the ground that a sure sign we’ve had enough – so far, no worms 🙂

    1. Thank you Becky. We have been so busy with work that any down time is just that – down time. But things are beginning to slow down a little now. And it feels like it’s been raining for 10 days here but in truth it’s been much less.
