I’m feeling a little lunar (or loony) this month and have delved into the archives of my ‘Moon’ folder.
If I can’t see the Moon because of cloud cover – and that is an all too frequent occurrence at the moment due to our wet season – I may as well assign a photo of it to my desktop so I can gaze upon it daily.
Here’s the photo I selected 🌕

This photo was taken at 10:36 pm on January 25, 2019, and (in my opinion) is one of the best I’ve ever taken of our fabulous satellite. It was a waning gibbous at 76% illumination and, for the life of me, I cannot remember why it appeared so orange.
I suspect there had been a bushfire somewhere. Here’s a close up.

This next photo was taken less than a minute later where you can see a dark shadow or cloud creeping across the surface. Perhaps this was/is smoke from said bushfire.
