Bloganuary – Day Something

All things being equal, today should be Day 1 of the WordPress Bloganuary event.

Alas, as I live on the early side of the international dateline, I’ll have to wait for tomorrow morning to receive the first prompt.

In the meantime, I’ve come up with my own for January 1, 2022, in Australia.

Unusual

And here’s a photo of something unusual – a flower on my (new) Queens of Spades.

The Queens of Spades is a variety of Ipomoea – an ornamental sweet potato vine with deep purple heart-shaped foliage and pink flowers. It has tubers that are edible, but apparently, they are not very tasty.

I found it very unusual that this gorgeous looking plant is a variety of sweet potato.

I don’t think I’ll be eating any of its tubers any time soon, but with these gorgeous pink trumpet-like flowers, this plant is already adding a delightful splash of colour to my garden.

  1. What lovely blossoms. So nice to see while checking out the bloganuary tag: I’m here on the west coast of Canada and it’s been a cold, white Christmas. One forgets spring is a thing 💕

    1. Hi Em, and thanx for stopping by. Glad you liked my photo. We have almost reached the peak of summer here (east coast of Australia) but I know our hottest days are still ahead of us 😥. Stay warm. I’ll try to stay cool 😎

    1. Thanx, Aletta. Just told another blogger that there were no flowers on it when I bought it, so to see them popping out (all over the place) was a pleasant surprise.
