Share Your Desktop – January 2022

Thank goodness my internet issues are finally resolved. Blogging has been an arduous, time-consuming task of late, so here’s cheers to saying goodbye to that. 🥂

But a painfully slow internet isn’t the only issue here at the moment, La Niña is the other, bringing increased chances of above-average rainfall across much of northern and eastern Australia during summer. It is likely to persist until mid-April.

With all the rain around (it’s currently storming), I’ve dived into my archives for my desktop image this month and have chosen my favourite sunrise photo.

Sunrise, Dicky Beach, June 11, 2016

That little lump mid-shot is the remains of the S.S. Dicky for which the beach was named.

The S.S. Dicky was an iron-hulled steamer that ran aground during a storm in February 1893. There were a number of unsuccessful attempts to re-float it, but there it remained, and slowly deteriorated, finally becoming a safety hazard our local council began the task of removing in 2015.

I look forward to seeing your desktop this month.
