Bloganuary – Day 21 – Take 2

If you could, what year would you time travel to and why?

Ok, so yesterday I said, “Yeah – I’m going to take a pass on this” and hoped that I wouldn’t struggle with the Bloganuary prompt that will arrive shortly today.

But here I am expanding on what I’ve said because today I’ve decided to share why I struggled so much with this prompt.

As I stated in Bloganuary – Day 5:

I’m a firm believer in the Butterfly Effect.

I would not like to change who I am. I would not like to have a different life. I would not like to end up married to a different person, and I would not (ever) want to be the mother of different children.

I know (because I am the world’s foremost expert on everything about me) that if I travelled back in time, I would not be a careful observer. I would inadvertently say or do something to change the course of history – my history – and all it would take is one minor alteration in my life’s journey and I would not be me.

I believe every choice I’ve ever made, every bridge I’ve ever crossed, absolutely every decision I’ve ever made in my life so far has bought me to where I am today.

I would not want to time travel and alter any decision I’ve made in my life.

No, I would not like that to happen at all. I love my life, with all its quirky mishaps and missteps. I know I’ve made mistakes, but I also like to think I’ve learnt from them – isn’t that called wisdom?

For exactly the same reasons, I would not like to travel forward in time either.

I don’t want to know my fate, the fate of my husband, or the fate of my children. I prefer to allow it to unfold with all its wonder and mystery as it was always meant to.

So, in all honesty, in answering yesterday’s prompt . . .

. . . I would neither like to travel back to the future nor forward from the past.

However . . . Would I like to travel through space?

Absolutely.
